Durian. An Indonesian research team comprises researchers from the Military (TNI), the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) and Airlangga University has found combined medicines to cure covid-19 patients, Indonesian Army Commander Gen. Andika Perkasa said on Aug.15.
The composition of the medicines was successfully working when treating more than 1,200 soldiers from the Army’s officer candidate school (Secapa) in Bandung, West Java in July, viva.co.id reported.
The research team has found the medication in March and conducted clinical tests as required since.
The research team is led by Dr. Purwati from Airlangga University’s pharmacy faculty.
Next step that the team will take is processing production and distribution permit to the Drug and Food Control Agency (BPOM), the four-star general who is also a deputy for the national task force to to increase covid-19 pandemic mitigation and the economic recovery process said.
Vaccine
In separate occasion, head of the national task force Erick Thohir when met Perkasa at the Army headquarters on Aug.14 said that the Army’s research team has found new covid-19 vaccine and has completed the third phase of clinical test.
“The commander said that the Army also has vaccine, so it can be combined [with other vaccines] because the number [of production that] we need more than 250 million as our population is 267 million,” Thohir said as quoted from the Army’s YouTube channel.
Indonesia is currently testing several candidate vaccines from other countries such as from China and South Korea.
