Residents Evacuated As Explosions From Indonesian Army’s Storage

Durian. Residents, who are living near an Indonesian Army’s amunition storage in Gunung Putri, Bogor, have been evacuated following a series of explosions on Saturday evening.

The cause of the explosions has yet acknowledged as the efforts to contain the fire and the explosions are ongoing.

Footages from local citizens show several explosions followed by fire came from the storage, owned by Jakarta’s Military District Command or Kodam Jaya.

No report of the casuaalties and damaged is available so far.

According to Army Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Kristomei Sianturi, residents who are living near the amunition storage were evacuated to safer locations.

“At this moment, fires continue and several explosions occured, so we cannot get close to the scene, ” Kristomei told Kompas TV.

He urged the public to inform security authority if they find explosive devices.

The storehouse is near packed residential area in Gunung Putri, West Java, close to Jakarta. (***)
