Israel Strikes Iran, Targeting Nuclear Program Facilities

Durian – Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Friday, 13 June 2025 that it has launched a preemptive, precise, combined offensive to strike Iran’s nuclear program, starting in early hours of the day.

IDF’s Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin in a video statement said that the strike was launched following intelligence information, showing the increasing activities of Iran to obtain nuclear weapon in recent months.

“This morning the IDF begun preemptive and precise strikes, targeting the Iranian nuclear program, in order to prevent Iranian regime ability to build the nuclear bomb in the immediate time frame,” he said.

Israel Air Force has sent dozens of jets and they have completed the first stage, according to the IDF, adding that the strikes were hit dozens of military targets, including nuclear targets in different areas of Iran.

“We have no choice, we are operating against eminent and existential threat. We can’t allow the Iranian regime to obtain nuclear weapon that could be a dangerous to Israel and the entire world. This operation is for our right to exist here, for our future and for our children’s future,” Defrin said.

U.S. Issues Statement on Israel Military Strikes on Iran

Separately, Secretary of State of the United States Marco Rubio issued a written statement on Thursday, 12 June 2025 evening, local time, saying that the country was not involved in the Israel’s military operation towards Iran’s nuclear program as it’s a unilateral action.

“Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region,” Rubio said.

According to Rubio, Israel has advised the U.S. that the military strikes on Iran was necessary for the West Asia country.

“Let me be clear: Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel,” Rubio stated.

Earlier of the day, U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Israel was likely to attack Iran soon.(***)
