President Prabowo Inaugurates 961 Regional Leaders, Incl. Former President Jokowi’s Son-in Law

Durian. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday, 20 Feb. 2025 inaugurated 961 regional leaders  – governors and deputy governors from 33 provinces; 363 regents and 362 vice-regents from 363 regencies; as well as mayors and deputy mayors from 85 cities – including former President Joko Widodo or known as Jokowi’s son-in-law Bobby Nasution as the governor of North Sumatra Province.

In special Jakarta Province, Pramono Anung from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and actor turn to politician Rano Karno from the same political party, among the regional leaders inaugurated today at Medeka Palace, Jakarta.

Representing the 961 leaders, new governor from Lampung and North Maluku, regent from Karangasem and Merauke, as well as mayor from Singkawang and Manado signed their official assignment letters.

“This is, I think, a historical moment, for the first time that our country, we inaugurate 33 governors, 33 deputy governors, 362 regent, 361 vice-regents, 85 mayors and 85 deputy mayors  with the total of 961 regional leaders from 481 regions simultaneously at Merdeka Palace by the state leader,” President Prabowo said in his speech after the regional leaders took their oath for office.

President Prabowo Subianto hope the new inaugural regional leaders could serve the best for their people and the country.

“Let’s serve our country, do the best for our state,” he said, after announcing that the leaders would further gathered for a retreat in Central Java’s Magelang, hosted by Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian. President Prabowo is expected to give his directives to the new regional leaders during the retreat.

These leaders were voted through Indonesia’s first simultaneous regional elections in November 2024. (***)
