Indonesia Imposes New Regulation on Natural Resources’ Foreign Exchange Proceeds

Durian. Indonesia President Prabowo Subianto on Monday, 17 Feb. 2025 announced a new regulation on foreign exchange proceeds from natiral resources (DHE SDA), aiming to strengthen the country’s economy.

“The government stipulates obligation to place foreign exchange proceeds from natural resources into Indonesia’s financial system that to be upgraded to 100 percent in 12-months term in special accounts at national banks,” President Prabowo said in a press conference in Jakarta.

The new regulation to be effective by March 1, exception for oil and gas sector that will use the existing law.

From imposing the new regulation, Indonesia, according to President Prabowo, is expecting additional US$80 billion from foreign exchanges and could be more up to US$100 billion.

For those who won’t follow the new rule are going to face administrative sanction, the postponement of their export services. (***)
