Durian. A light airplane, operated by Indonesia’s private company SAM Air, crashed on Sunday, 20 Oct. 2024 before landing in Panua Airport, Pohuwato in Gorontalo, left four people have died.
A written statement from the Aviation Department of the Transportation Ministry stated that the DHC-6 twin otter flight was lost contact with the ground about 20 minutes after departing from Djalaluddin Airport in Gorontalo, or about 10 minutes before estimated time of landing in Panua Airport.
“The airplane has lost contact at 23.22 UTC and several hours later, it was found totally damaged in swamp area near runway 27 of Panua Airport,” said Mokhammad Khusnu, head division of international cooperations, public relations and general affairs of the Aviation Department in the statement on Sunday.
The aircraft was departing Djalaluddin Airport during bad weather, according to the statement.
The plane carried one passenger and three crews. All of them have found dead and their remains had been taken to Motolohu medical clinic in Pohuwato.
The cause of the accident will be investigated by Indonesia’s National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) said acting Head of Aviation Department of the Transportation Ministry Lukman F. Laisa. (***)
