Durian. The Indonesian Military or TNI is hosting a multinational military exercises, called Super Garuda Shield 2024 in various locations across Indonesia, including East Java area, where countries in Indo-Pacific region are participating.
The two-week drills was kicked off on Monday, August 26 2024 at the Indonesian Navy’s Juanda airbase.
Foreign countries that are participating in the military drills are the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, France, the UK and Canada.
Besides 11 participant countries, there are observers, coming from Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, East Timor, Papua New Guinea, India, Saudi Arabia, Germany, the Netherlands and Brazil.
The drills will be held not only in East Java, but also in South Sumatra and West Java between August 26 and September 6. Nearly 7,000 personnel involve in the military experiences, including more than 4,700 from Indonesia.
According to Deputy Commander of the Indonesian Military’s Education and Training Command or Kodiklat TNI Air Vice Marshal Widyargo Ikoputra, the military drills aimed to develop and improve ability when holding a joint military action.
“These exercises as vehicle to implement confident building measure, strengthening bilateral relations between military to military as well as multilateral,” Widyargo said after opening of the military drills.
The Chief of Staff and Commander of the Hawaii Air National Guard or HIANG Maj.Gen. Joseph R. Harris II in his speech representing foreign participants had encouraged all personnel involved in the trainings to grab the opportunity to learn and to improve their skill of coordination.
The military exercises will include Staffex, Cyberex, Airborne Operations, Cargo Delivery System, Join Strike, Jungle FTX, Special Operation Force, Amphibious Operation, Engineer Civil Action Project ansld Combine Arm Life Fire Exercise or CALFEX. (***)
