Durian. Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka have officially become Indonesia’s new president and vice president on Sunday, 20 Oct. 2024 in an inaugural ceremony at the People’s Consultative Assembly’ (MPR) plenary meeting.
Prabowo-Gibran won Indonesia’s 2024 presidential election by seizing 58.59 percent votes.
“In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. By Allah, I swear that I will fulfill the obligations of the President of the Republic of Indonesia as well and fairly as possible, upholding the Constitution and implementing all laws and regulations as straight as possible and serving my homeland and nation,” Prabowo said his oath before the Assembly. Gibran also made his out as the new vice president.
Prabowo Subianto becomes Indonesia’s eighth president.
Prabowo’s contenders in the 2024 election – Anies Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo – attended the inauguration that was also attended by leaders and representatives from many countries and 709 members of the Assembly. The plenary is led by Ahmad Muzani.
Prabowo won the 2024 presidential election after lossing his chance to lead Indonesia in two previous elections to his tight contender Joko Widodo, the seventh Indonesian President. (***)
