Durian. Governor of Indonesia’s capital Jakarta Anies Baswedan announced on Dec.1 that he is confirmed positive of having covid-19 virus after a series of medical tests and he is healthy on self-isolation.
Baswedan said he was tested following the confirmation from Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria of having the virus a few days earlier, transmitted from one of his staffs.
“I announced this information so that everyone who has interaction with me [within] several days ago can check themselves to the medical centers or hospitals to take swab or PCR tests. They can also prevent contagious by doing self-isolation,” he said in his video-statement on Dec.1 morning.
The governor said he took a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test on Nov.30 and the result came out positive on early morning of Dec.1. He also has done swab antigen test on Nov.29 and 26 which the results were negative for covid-19 virus.
“All the procedures will be carried out by the health provincial government to trace the contact,” Baswedan said.
He had no symptoms prior to its disease and will choose to have a self-isolation at his official’s residence for two weeks.
“My condition is good, no symptoms and after consulting doctor, I can take self-isolation. Medication will be given following doctor’s advices,” he said.
During self-isolation the governor plans to continue working from home, while governor and deputy governor offices will be closed temporarily for disinfection works.
Based on Jakarta covid-19 task force data, there are 124,078 confirmed cases including 2,671 deaths as of Dec.1.
