Indonesia’s Capital to Reinforce PSBB Due to Rising Covid-19 Case

Durian. Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan announced on Sept.9 evening that his administration will reinforce large-scale social restrictions (PSBB), starting from Sept. 14 due to the increasing confirm case of covid-19 in the capital of Indonesia.

The situation in Jakarta is at the emergency stage as isolation and intensive care unit’s bed estimated will be full a week ahead without imposing the restriction, Baswedan said.

“We will pull the emergency brake which means we have to reinforce large-scale social restriction, the same as [what was imposed] at the beginning of [covid-19] pandemic. Starting from Monday, Sept.14, non-essential offices activities must be conducted from home,” Baswedan said after meeting provincial covid-19 task force.

Only 11 essential sectors will be allowed to work from office including health and transportation sectors. School activities will be from home, no dine-in for food and beverage places and worship activities are called to be conducted virtual.

Jakarta has 49,397 confirm cases of covid-19 as of Sept.9, the highest number of case compare to 33 other provinces. Total confirm covid-19 case in Indonesia as of Sept 9 is 203,342.

In the last few days, Jakarta contributes about 1,000 confirm case daily.

To anticipate the inclining trend of confirm case in the near future, Jakarta government will provide more than 4,000 hospital beds up to October and 1,174 health workers immediately.

From April to June, Jakarta administration applied PSBB before entering transition period until now.
