Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan ensures that food stocks for Indonesian capital is available for the next two months and the government will ensure the avaibility of face masks soon to be provided and distributed for free for the people in dealing with combating the transmission of covid-19.
The government of Jakarta has conducted rapid tests in five municipals and a regency of the province.
People of Jakarta do not need to visit wet markets for their food stocks by using digital buying system and delivery to be distributed by online motorcycle taxies, the governor said.
“More than 50 markets in in Jakarta. Hopefully the basic needs of Jakarta citizens can be sufficient by contacting the traders,” Baswedan said on March 31.
Customers can access contact numbers of their nearest wet market’s traders through Jakarta’s state-own market regulator’s Instagram account: @perumdapasarjaya or through its website www.pasarjaya.co.id, director of Perum Pasar Jaya Arief Nasrudin explained.
“Stock of Basic needs in Jakarta is safe. Let say there is no supply, our stock is ready for the next two months,” the governor said.
Emergency handling on covid-19 in Jakarta was extended to April 19 from previously to April 6.
“In the future we’re going to provide masks…we want more people to use masks,” the governor said, adding that the distribution of masks to be through districts and villages.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo has ordered his government officials to prepare supporting regulations for wider social-distancing policy that should be implemented soon.
“We [Jakarta government] and the central government have been discussing about stimulus for those who are affected financially by this situation. When it’s final, we will immediately announce it,” Baswedan explained in Jakarta.
As of March 31, Jakarta recorded 741 of covid-19 cases, the highest number in the country, with 94 has died and 49 others have been recovered, provincial spokesman Catur Laswanto said on March 31.
Rapid test has been applied to more than 17,500 people where 282 of them were found positive of possible covid-19. They must be tested using swab and PCR tests to ensure the results, the spokesman said further.
