Indonesia’s First Half Export of Fishery Products Rises 6.9 Pct YoY

Durian. Indonesian Marine Affairs and Fisheries Ministry (KKP) recorded the export of of fishery products increased to 6.9 percent in the first half of 2020 compared to the same period last year.

“There was an increasing of 6.9 percent of export value [for fishery products] compared to the same period last year. We are optimistic and sure that it will continue rising in the midst of [covid-19] pandemic,” Marine and Fisheries Minister Edhy Prabowo said on August 4.

Total export volume in the first six months of 2020 was 596,000 tons while the amount in the same period previous year was 528,000 tons.

Top commodities in demand were including shrimp, tuna, seaweed and crab.

Fishery business integrated system, which includes developing processing industry, contributes to upgrade export volume, the minister said.
