Indonesia Records Deflation in August 0.21% MoM

Durian – Indonesia records deflation of 0.21 percent month on month in August when union and various red chilies were contributed.

According to Margo Yuwono, head of the Statitics Indonesia (BPS), red chili varieties and union that are among food, beverages and tobacco group contributed 0.48 percent to August’s deflation.

Transportation sector also contributed 0.01 percent to August’s deflation compared to the previous month.

Although for month on month data of August Indonesia experienced deflation, but for year on year data the country records August’s inflation of 4.69 percent.

Food, beverages and tobacco sector has contributed 7.73 percent to the year on year inflation.
