Exchanged of Fires Caused One Soldier, Two Terrorists Killed in Indonesia’s Poso

Durian. Indonesian Police (Polri) confirmed on March 2 that an Army soldier was killed during exchanged of fires with members of terrorist group Eastern Indonesia Mujahideen (MIT) in Poso Pesisir regency, Central Sulawesi.

Two MIT members, who were on police’s wanted list, Alfin and Khairul a.k.a. Irul were also killed in the incident that took place on March1, according to Central Sulawesi Police Chief Insp. Gen. Abdul Rakhman Baso as reported by state news agency Antara.

MIT members, led by Ali Kalora, were using explosives to attack security forces from Madago Raya Task Force, the police chief said.

“Alfin was shot in the exchanged of fires. While, Khairul carried home-made bomb and it’s exploded,” Baso explained.

The security task force got tip off about food delivery schedule to the terrorist group before seizing the location where MIT members were located in the area of Andole Mountains.

Security forces continue chasing the rest of MIT members.
