Durian. Five out of six bodies that were found in Johor Baru were Indonesian citizens, suspected as migrants who tried to enter Malaysia illegally, Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry said on Sept. 20.
“Based on information from Malaysian Police and Immigration, it is correct about the finding of six bodies where five of them have been identified as Indonesians. They were suspected trying to enter Malaysia illegally by boat and experienced accident (at sea),” Judha Nugraha, director of protection of citizens and legal entities abroad at Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
He said Malaysian Police also had arrested nine Indonesians who are survived and believed were from the same boat with those victims.
Indonesian consulate in Johor Baru is monitoring the case closely in cooperation with local authorities. The consulate will provide consular assistance for the nine survivors.
