Indonesia’s Mt. Merapi And Mt. Semeru  Erupt, Nearby Airport Closed Temporarily

Durian. Indonesia’s volcanic mountain Merapi that lies in Central Java and Yogyakarta on Java Island erupted on March 3, forced authority to close nearby airport Adi Sumarmo for commercial flights due to volcanic ashes.

The volcanic mountain spew column of ashes about 5.30 a.m. local time, causing tremors and hot clouds towards North in Yogyakarta area, according to the country’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).

Indonesia’s AirNav has issued a notification to close Adi Sumarmo Airport in Solo, Central Java for a few hours since 9.25 a.m. local time and resumed to its normal operations at 3.35 p.m.

While, another volcanic mountain on Java Island Mount Semeru that lies in East Java erupted about 5.30 p.m. on March 3, spewing ashes.

People were urged by local authority to avoid any activity in the range of four kilometers from Mt. Semeru crater, BNPB spokesman Agus Wibowo said.
