“The disregard and contempt for human life and human rights that are continuously demonstrated by the military, constitute an outrage to the conscience of humanity,” he said, as quoted from the agency’s official statement.

According to the report based on data collecting between February 1, 2022 and January 23 this year, airstrikes launched by Myanmar military against civilian locations has increased 141 percent, while houses and neighborhoods had set ablaze rose 380 percent.

At least 1.3 million people escape the country as refugees and displaced and “people who are unable to flee, risk being burned to death,” according to Turk.

Many have died under the military custody because of torture and many detainees beside experiencing torture also sex abuse.

The commissioner called UN Human Rights Council members to do their utmost to deliver humanitarian aid directly to the people of Myanmar.

Myanmar’s military ruler through its appointed foreign minister has slammed the report as reported by the Strait Times on Wednesday, saying that the statement made by the head of OHCHR was “irrelevant” that the military ruler may have committed war crimes as it struggles to crush the resistance against its rule.
