Indonesia Starts Operating Multipurpose Seaport Terminal in Labuan Bajo

Durian. Indonesian President Joko Widodo inaugurated the operation of Wae Kelambu Multipurpose Terminal at Labuan Bajo Seaport, the biggest logistic port of the country, in East Nusa Tenggara on Oct.14.

The construction of the terminal started in August 2020, using state budget, according to Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi. It has 3 hectare area of container yard and is able for anchoring cargo vessel with 25,000 DWT.

Labuan Bajo is one of Indonesia’s top tourist destinations, popular for diving, snorkelling and origin habitat of Komodo dragon.

Indonesia’s logistic fee is still high, in average at 23 percent compared to other countries surrounding of 12 percent. Since taking office, President Widodo has been focusing in building infrastructure to improve the country’s connectivity, hoping to offer efficient logistic fee.
