Durian. A male Sumatran tiger or Panthera Tigris Sumatrae was rescued from man-trap in Gulo village, Southeast Aceh regency in Indonesia’s Aceh province on Jan.23, the Environment and Forestry Ministry (KLHK) said on Jan.25.
Its age is estimated about one to one-and-half year and has been trapped for proximately three days before it was rescued by a joint rescue team contain of personnel from Southeast Aceh Resort and Station, Mt. Leuser National Park Main Station, medic from Leuser Conservation Forum, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), the Police, the Military and villagers, the ministry said.
The rescue operation for 45-50 kg tiger was taken after receiving public information on Jan.22.
It’s currently under medical treatment in Kutacane and expected to be release to its wild habitation soon after the tiger’s health condition will be good.
Sumatran tiger is in IUCN Red list of critically endangered species category. In Indonesia, it’s a protected wild animal.
