Sumatran Elephant Dies After Trapped by Electric Wires in Indonesia’s Aceh

Durian. A male Sumatran elephant or elephas maximus sumatrensis was found dead in a villager’s farm in Tuha Lala village, Pidie regency in Indonesia’s westernmost province Aceh on Sept. 9, Antara news agency reported.

The critically endanger animal according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), most likely died after trapped by electric wires that was set rounding the for aiming protection from wild boars’ trespassing.

Habitat of Sumatran elephants are in Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, Bengkulu, South Sumatra and Lampung provinces on Sumatra Island in mountain range of the Barisan Mountains.
