Durian. Indonesia has sent its delegation to participate in the 7th Melanesian Arts and Cultural Festival (MACFEST) 2023 in Port Vila, Vanuatu and the entourage has arrived last weekend, the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
The festival is held between July 19 and 31 when 82 artists from Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara and Papua participate.
Indonesian artists in the festival will present music and dance from the two provinces, aiming to promote Indonesia’s diverse culture especially from the people who are similar with other Melanesian.
From Papua, Indonesia will showcase a song titled Papua Dalam Cinta (Papua in Love) that was composed by Pay and to be sung by Soa Soa group and another song from Steven Wally titled Building a Bridge of Love as well as dances from Kasbi Dance group.
Meanwhile from East Nusa Tenggara, a music group fro, Leisplang village in Maumere will perform traditional music under the theme of environment issues.
Indonesia was invited in December last year to partake in the arts and cultural festival.
