Durian. National air carrier Garuda Indonesia provides a direct flight from Pattimura International Airport in Ambon, Maluku to Narita airport in Japan aiming to support export of fisheries products.
By using the air route, it will cut 50 percent of time consumption of shipment to 13 hours compared to current route from Ambon-Jakarta-Japan that could take 24-26 hours as well as the declining of shipment cost to 50 percent.
‘’Garuda provides charter cargo flight from Ambon-Narita, Japan via Manado [North Sulawesi],’’ Ashari Syarif, head of provincial agency for quarantine, quality control and security of fisheries products (BKIPM) said on Jan.6 in Ambon.
The first shipment of fisheries products from Ambon to Japan using direct flight on Jan.6 was sending 19,268 kg tuna worth Rp 1.7 billion ($120,600).
Indonesia has set Maluku as the national fish barn.
