Durian. Indonesian government strongly condemns inhuman treatment to one of its female migrant workers in Saudi Arabia by her Saudis employer.
Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry confirmed that its citizen Mrs. S.S.S. was tortured by her female employer and now is under medical treatment at King Fahd hospital in Jeddah.
Indonesian Consulate in Jeddah has filed a police report and requested a medical proof from the hospital to support the case.
“Indonesia strongly condemns the torture to Mrs. S.S.S. which was committed by her employer,” Judha Nugraha, director of protection of citizens and legal entities abroad at Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry on late July 15 night.
“Indonesian Consulate [in Jeddah] has coordinated with Saudi Arabia authority, requesting the torture case to be followed up legally,” he added.
The ministry has contacted the victim’s family and will keep informing them on the progress of the case.
The Indonesian worker is originally from Indonesia’s Central Java, which BBC Indonesia gives her name as Sulasih binti Sukiran Sadli.
She was in critical condition when taken to a hospital before Indonesian official moved her to King Fahd hospital.
Her critical condition was caused by torture such as her eyes were showered with chlorine liquid, her face was swallowed, her hands were injured as well her genital part was stepped on by her female employer, the media was quoted an Indonesian official in Jeddah.
Sulasih entered Saudi last November using pilgrim visa and has been staying there to work illegally as a domestic worker with a young Saudi immigration officer’s family.
The victim family got information about her situation and contacted Indonesian migrant workers association in Jeddah that made a report to the consulate in Jeddah about the situation.
