Indonesia Catches Two Malaysian-Flag Fishing Boats

Durian. An Indonesian patrol boat caught two Malaysian-flag fishing boats that were conducting illegal fishing on Feb.4 at Malacca Straits, the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry said.

The two boats did not have proper documents to support them fishing in Indonesia’s Exclusive Economy Zone (EEZ) when patrol boat Hiu 012 intercepted them.

All crew from the two boats, six and five people, are Thai. They were taken to nearby shore to be interrogated and for further legal process,.

Under the leadership of Minister Susi Pudjiastuti, Indonesia has been applying harsh punishment for illegal fishing boats that entering its territory by drowning the vessels.
