Durian. Indonesians across the country are rushing to pooling stations on Wednesday, 27 Nov. 2024 to vote for their regional leaders.
There are 545 leaders will be elected, 37 of them in the provincial level, 415 others for regents and 93 for city majors.
The pooling stations open at 7AM local time and close at 1PM.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) expects 82 percent of total voters or potential voters will use their voting rights at these regional elections (Pemilukada).
There are about 207 million Indonesians as potential voters, according to the latest statistic data.
Elected provincial leaders will be inaugurated on 7 Feb. 2024, while regents and city majors on 10 Feb. 2025.
Jakarta is the only province that can hold second round of the election if no governor candidate could secure 50 percent of total votes in the first round.
There are three pair candidates run for Jakarta governor post. They are former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil and former Agriculture Minister Suswono; former police official Dharma Pongrekun and Kun Wardana; as well as Former Cabinet M Pramono Anung-Rano Karno. (***)
